THE MERRION ♦ DUBLIN
Dublin's most stylish and luxurious five star hotel, The Merrion is located in the city center opposite Government Buildings. Created from four restored Georgian Townhouses, many of the 142 bedrooms and suites overlook period landscaped gardens. Remembered historically as the birthplace of the first Duke of Wellington, the hotel houses one of Ireland's most impressive collections of art and antiques.
Guests can choose to dine in The Cellar Restaurant, which offers simple Irish cuisine expertly executed while Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud, with its 2 Michelin stars, offers more formal gourmet dining. Bars include The Cellar Bar set in the original 18th Century wine vaults and the intimate cocktail bar, No 23. During the spring and summer months, guests can relax out on the Garden Terrace while the Drawing Rooms, with their open log fires, are perfect for Afternoon Tea any time of year. The award winning Tethra Spa boasts an 18m pool, steam room, fully equipped gymnasium and private treatment rooms. The Merrion offers six of the most impressive rooms available in Dublin for high-level business meetings or private dining. The Penthouse Suite
The Merrion Penthouse provides unparalleled security and privacy, whilst offering the luxurious five-star comfort, services and facilities for which The Merrion has become legendary. With living space of approximately 2,800 square feet split across two floors and a separate 1,000 square foot rooftop terrace complete with cedarwood hot tub,
The Merrion Penthouse is the piece de resistance in Dublin’s most deluxe hotel.
The Merrion Penthouse has been decorated in a classically elegant style that reflects the understated elegance of the hotel, but with individuality that defines The Penthouse. Aidan Cavey, one of Ireland’s leading interior designers, has utilised fabrics and furnishings from some of the world’s most exclusive design houses to provide an interior that is calm, luxurious and elegantly welcoming. Several fine examples of contemporary Irish Art from the hotel’s extensive collection, as well as other object d’art, add the finishing touches to this unique accommodation.
Guests have exclusive access to The Merrion Penthouse via a private lift. Upon entry through an imposing mahogany front door, the large entrance hall sets the tone of The Penthouse interior with a handmade woven rug – a copy of an abstract painting by renowned Irish artist, Mainie Jellett.
On the ground level of The Penthouse are the two main bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom finished in Italian Carrara marble and views over the marvellous 18th-century hotel gardens. The master bedroom also comprises a large en-suite dressing area.
An elegant staircase leads to the beautifully furnished top floor, where an open-plan living space awaits guests, who can gather around the cosy flames of the stone fireplace, enjoy the state-of-the-art entertainment area with surround-sound audio and TV and dine in style while enjoying spectacular views over Dublin and the hotel gardens below. A further room off the main living area can be used as a study, private meeting room, gymnasium or as accommodation for security personnel if required.
Within The Merrion Penthouse, the superbly-equipped kitchen on this level can provide
five-star catering for private dining. To ensure maximum privacy, The Merrion Penthouse faces the hotel’s interior garden and is surrounded on all sides by subtle fencing, potted bay trees and box hedges.
A magnificent rooftop terrace of about 95m2 (1,000 sq ft) with cedarwood hot-tub, provides an ideal entertainment area directly accessed from the main living space.
Dublin, Ireland
The Merrion is one of the best located hotels in Dublin, standing directly opposite Government Buildings in the heart of the city centre.
On the doorstep is Upper Merrion Street, where Government Buildings, The National Gallery and The National Museum of Ireland are located. A short walk leads to the adjacent "golden mile" of lively pubs, shops and restaurants dotted around St. Stephen's Green. Grafton Street is a leisurely stroll away for all the latest designer shops.
The Merrion's location in South Dublin City is also surrounded by commerce and industry - business people coming to and from work as the city centre bustles with action. Weekends in contrast are peaceful. Horse-drawn carriages clip-clop past the Georgian railings of nearby Merrion Square, which are hung with the work of local exhibiting artists all of which add to our prestigious reputation of being one of the most charming 5 star hotels in Ireland.
